Deriving from Animation: A Creator’s Leap of Faith
Bogdan’s Cross is the debut title from Federico Breser, an animation industry veteran turned solo game developer. As he has honed his skills in storytelling and visual artistry, he decided to embark on an ambitious path. He created an immersive tale with strong narrative intensity, with visuals echoing the style that defined his earlier work. Driven by a passion to blend historical authenticity with compelling fiction, Bogdan’s Cross represents his first video game dev voyage.

The key part of his development process involved using Quill, a VR art tool, to bring Bogdan’s universe to life. This innovative workflow allowed him to create richly textured environments and hand-crafted character designs. Given these points, each location feels like a living fresco torn from history.
In addition, Bogdan’s Cross is developed by 1st Level and supports English, Spanish, and French. Also, it has an ESRB rating of Everyone 10+.
Faith Against Fire: Bogdan’s Cross Gameplay
Bogdan’s Cross offers a 2.5D action-adventure experience grounded in medieval history but shadowed by an eerie otherworldliness. Players traverse landscapes pulled straight from the era of the Crusades, including castles, ruins, and war-torn towns. Battles are hard-hitting and grounded in melee combat. In them, players are facing both corrupted men and strange supernatural entities that defy explanation.
At the heart of the game lies the Faith and Doubt System. Players collect Tokens of Faith to strengthen Bogdan’s resolve, improving his combat prowess and resilience. On the other hand, Tokens of Doubt represent his fear and self-doubt, weakening him and making encounters more challenging. The system turns inner struggle into dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay, keeping the player engaged.
A World Built on History, Haunted by Mystery
Bogdan’s journey is deeply entwined with real events, people, and places from the Crusades. You will meet figures from the Templar Order, investigate relics tied to early Christianity, and uncover a plot that alludes to the coming devastation of the Black Plague. Even more, his actions play a pivotal role in what will ultimately become the downfall of the Templar Order on the infamous Friday the 13th.
The environments offer expansive exploration with hidden collectables such as pages from the Latin Vulgate Bible, ancient Templar artefacts, and more. Collecting these items can unlock special abilities, offer narrative clues, and enhance your understanding of the game’s rich tapestry.
